Dyeing Classes

Now that spring is around the corner Bobby has developed the classes for this summer.

General

All classes run from 10.30am to 3.00pm, minimum of 5 people, maximum of 8. Bring your own lunch. We provide tea and coffee. All classes are $90 per person, to be paid on the day.

Materials are supplied including plastic gloves. If you are sensitive to powdered aerosols we recommend that you bring a face mask. Bring a large plastic container for taking your work home safely. Wear oldish clothing and an apron.

Classes can be had any day of the week. Once you have a group of people wishing to do a class, advise me what day you would like the class to be held. If you do not have a group 5, I will advertise the class and try to fill the numbers

  1. ICE DYE CLASS

In the morning, choosing your own colour way, dye a multicolour medallion using ice.

In the afternoon learn how to make a dye pot and dye single colour fabric and a colour gradation.

  1. DYE A COLOUR WHEEL

In the morning dye a 12 step colour wheel, learning how to mix dye colours.

In the afternoon explore 2 step dyeing for a different effect.

  1. THICKENED DYE

Explore the possibilities of using thickened dye – painting, screen printing, writing, monoprinting.

  1. WAXING AND DISCHARGING.

Instead of putting dye in, take dye out. Use wax to batik a pattern then discharge the colour from black fabric. Different black fabric will be provided but bring some of your own black fabric as well if you wish.
